Also keep this page in mind:
Step 1
Dehumidifier
Portable or installed in central air. Keep indoor air below 60% humidity. Below 50% is even better.
Step 2
Ozone Machine
Big Unit
Run this unit 1-2x/week for an hour. Make sure each space is exposed to the ozone.
Smaller Unit — Wall Plug-in
Run this unit 24 hours in larger spaces, or intermittently in smaller spaces.
These are excellent in bathrooms and around air purifiers, dehumidifiers, or air conditioners. The ozone cleans and protects the machinery along with the rest of the room.
They also are excellent in garages.
Step 3
Air Purification
Air purifiers filter air of dust and airborne particles.
- HEPA filter
- Charcoal filter
- Enviroklenz filter
- Ionizer
HEPA filters catch very tiny particles in the air.
Charcoal filters temporarily adsorb VOC chemicals in the air, but they can become saturated and re-release the chemicals over time.
Enviroklenz filters remove VOCs from the air — and do not re-release them back into the room.
Ionizers release electricity into the air, which binds to particles floating in the air and makes them drop to the floor where they can be cleaned up. Ions also are harmful to pathogens and discourage mold growth to some extent. Ions can also improve human health by providing free electrons to the body (similar to grounding in water or land). Ions degrade VOC’s to some extent.
